Many of the principles in the Bible for handling money are in common practice today. Magazines, professional advisors, websites of various firms recommend we diversify. The Bible says it this way:
Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth (Ecclesiastes 11:2 NASB).
You probably know someone who invested heavily in one area, maybe a company stock or real estate, only to see that investment plunge. Mutual funds are hugely popular because they spread risk among multiple stocks. The principle of diversity may be applied to types of savings vehicles as well, bonds, laddered certificates of deposit, savings accounts, Christmas and vacation clubs.
We [Sound Mind Investing] help individuals invest successfully and apply biblical principles to all aspects of their financial life so they will experience the joy of providing well for their family (1 Timothy 5:8) and generously supporting God’s work (2 Corinthians 8:7).
Do you have great investing resources you’ve used that meant a lot to your family? Chime in.
